Tanks, Pumps and Equipment Ltd

Brief Company History

In 1998 Carl Bayliss, the company founder, volunteered for redundancy from Fosroc as an engineer. Before he had decided on a new career, customers where calling and asking him to continue the support he had previously given them, offering to open accounts and place orders with him. In some cases they assumed he worked for himself anyway based on the commitment shown whilst working for his previous employer and their customers. Finding it hard to simply remove the support provided by Carl for these long term customers/colleagues TPE Ltd was set up and continued to cater for their needs. It wasn’t long before customers were asking TPE to build new dispensers and carry out installations to TPE’s own specifications and provide ongoing service contracts which are still maintained. This has grown into all areas of the industry and beyond, seeing TPE work on all manner of projects from Crossrail to the new HS2 project, Hinkley Point and their 4 dedicated plants to the design, manufacture and building of several complete chemical production facilities.

Carl’s son, James has now also become a part of TPE’s legacy having worked along side Carl for the past 11 years with heavy involvment in all areas of the company. James’s has been able to bridge the gap between the older days of the industry and the new, pushing forward with accreditation for Health and Safety Schemes and expanding the electrical control aspects of the services offered.

TPE is built on over 40 years of experience within the construction industry, growing relationships and knowledge throughout this timescale. Having been involved with every aspect of manufacture, sales, delivery, storage, dispensing and servicing at numerous types of batching plants nationally, TPE has had significant firsthand experience in providing equipment and services for chemical admixtures and are very aware of the importance and pitfalls of accommodating and accurately dispensing chemical admixtures.

Carl developed the original calibration procedures and practices adopted by the industry for the Quality Assurance of admixture systems. This attention to detail and purpose built equipment has lead to the involvement and successful support on many large projects such as:

  • Canary Wharf

  • Channel Tunnel

  • Heathrow Runway Expansions and Maintenece

  • The O2 (Millennium Dome)

  • The Olympic Village/ Olympic Stadiums

  • Cross Rail

  • Hinkley Point

  • HS2 Segment Batching Plants

Moving forward

TPE have continued to develop products to suit each customer’s individual needs. To continue to move the industry forward, and to improve accuracy of equipment and ease of maintenance, products such as the TPE Ground Level Weigh system, which address’s many health and safety issues have been developed.

All TPE admixture engineers have experience working on various admixture systems which are often poorly positioned and are difficult to maintain or repair. Inferior pipe and fittings are also routinely installed, leading to priming/ dosing issues and failures. As such, each system built and installed is designed to be as easy, cost effective and most importantly safe to service and to repair.
